Mission: Our mission is to provide financial, as well emotional support for children and their families in the city of San Antonio and the surrounding areas. We are a team of dedicated students and alumni striving to make a difference in the lives of our FTK families through various charity events, such as hospital parties and parades, UTSA sporting events, FTK Fashion Show, and our largest event and namesake the FTK Dance Marathon.

FTK began as a small leadership laboratory in 2009. Part of an honors class known as Leadership Challenge, students were tasked with finding a way to impact their community. They wanted to make a difference in the world around them, so they created FTK. FTK began as a class assignment and turned into a mission. FTK is modeled after Penn State THON. Our Dance Marathon is our signature event and the hallmark of our organization.

In partnership with University Hospital, FTK works with some of the strongest kids you'll ever meet. They are smart, funny, and full of imagination. They are normal children, who happen to be battling a deadly disease. In fact, one in five children in the United States who are diagnosed with cancer will not survive. FTK seeks to build relationships with these kids and families, to let them know that they are never alone.
Our goal is to help these families understand that it's not just FTK supporting them, and not just UTSA, but the entire San Antonio community. That even though they are going through an unimaginably difficult time, there are hundreds of people who have their back. With your generosity we can ensure that our FTK families are supported financially and emotionally.

Pediatric cancer takes a heavy toll on family members as well as the healthcare providers who must all ride an emotional roller coaster with the patient. If families are consumed with worry about finances and uncertainty and caregivers grow tired, emotionally drained, and frustrated with organizational dysfunction and lack of effective leadership, the Circles of Care weaken and patient care suffers.
The FTK Fourth Circle was conceived to provide financial, social, and emotional support of the inner three circles of families and medical caregivers  as well as patient or survivor through student volunteer efforts and fund raising activities. We were able to provide plane tickets for a young girl and her family to receive highly-specialized experimental treatment for her specific type of cancer that is only available to a center in Seattle.

We have also helped with smaller, day-to-day things, including providing a family with Pediasure to ensure their child had access to the proper fiber intake to supplement his chemotherapy treatment, along with mortgage payments, school lunches, and tuition assistance. These are just a few examples of the many ways FTK is helping our FTK families. With each donation, we are able to assist a family in their greatest time of need. Many parents sacrifice necessary attention and resources while their child is in treatment, and FTK believes the last thing they should worry about is their mortgage, car, or utilities bills.
